Full description and what we offer
Laney's Guide Service operates out of Grand Lake Stream, a sportsman's hub for hunting and fishing in Downeast Maine. Owner Paul Laney guides hunts full-time—every day of the year scouting trails, reading sign, and building the knowledge that translates to success in the field.
Recent harvests have included bears ranging from 480 to 600 pounds—among the largest ever recorded in Maine.
Much of the guiding takes place on land managed by the Downeast Lakes Land Trust and Woodie Wheaton Land Trust. The region's active forest management and selective timber harvesting create abundant food sources for black bear and white-tailed deer, plus ideal cover for snowshoe hares that support strong bobcat populations.
Guiding is their profession, not a hobby. That full-time commitment means they spend every day reading the land, understanding game movement, and refining their approach. High success rates and a long list of repeat clients speak to the quality of the experience.
