Full description and what we offer
North Country Lodge has been running fully guided hunts since the Goodman family founded it in 1985. Brett and Aliza Gerrish now operate the lodge, bringing professional expertise and deep knowledge of Aroostook County's vast North Maine Woods.
Black bear hunts are what the lodge is known for. The five-day package includes:
"The Black Bear is a formidable trophy animal." They have the strength of five men, the speed of a quarter horse, hearing that picks up a rifle hammer at 50 yards, and a nose more sensitive than a bomb-sniffing German Shepherd.
The lodge also offers guided hunts for: - Moose – Bull moose hunts in the North Maine Woods - Grouse & Woodcock – Fast wingshooting action for upland game - Whitetail Deer – North Woods deer hunts
Located 11 miles north of Patten, Maine, and 25 miles east of Baxter State Park, the lodge sits in Aroostook County—the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River. Hardwood ridges, rolling hills, swamps and bogs provide the terrain for hunting.
The lodge offers modern amenities: clean rooms with comfortable beds, daily housekeeping, showers, WIFI, and cell phone reception. All meals are home-cooked and served in the dining room. Women, couples, families with youth hunters, and singles are all accommodated.
Over 75% of hunters are return clients – a clear sign of the quality experience and service.
Brett Gerrish is a registered forester and works in that field outside hunting season. The full guide staff stays active year-round preparing for hunts and working with wildlife biologists and outdoor organizations to protect game and hunting access.
