Granby Bow and Gun Club

Granby Bow & Gun Club operates as a membership-based shooting facility located at 85 Chicopee St in Granby, Massachusetts. The club combines archery and firearm disciplines under one roof, maintaining both indoor and outdoor ranges designed for serious shooters.

Firearm Facilities: - 4 action bays for pistol work - Lower rifle range with steel targets to 350 yards (all standard members) - Upper rifle range with steel targets to 1000 yards (certified long-range members only)

Standard Membership includes lower rifle range access (350 yards), 24/7 indoor archery, outdoor archery, woods course, and the 4 action bays.

Long-Range Membership adds access to the upper bay firing position with steel targets extending to 1000 yards after completing qualification.

The club takes long-range shooting seriously. New long-range members must complete an orientation ($40 fee, waivable with proof of prior training) that involves:

• •Shooting at distances from 500 to 1000 yards
• •Demonstrating impact accuracy (3 hits in 10 shots at multiple distances)
• •Carrying required equipment: rifle scope with adjustable turrets, rangefinder, bipod, rear bag, and verified ballistic calculator
• •Bringing minimum 40 rounds

If you don't pass the orientation, you'll need to complete a formal long-range training course from an approved instructor.

Once certified, you'll receive a unique colored card that must be displayed when shooting long-range. The club enforces self-policing of this requirement.

All members complete 8 hours of work annually (fulfilled via scheduled work days, events, or matches). There's a $100 annual maintenance fee charged in April, which is refunded if you complete your 8 hours.

New members pay an initiation fee plus regular dues, and must: - Complete full online profile - Submit application with passport-style photo - Attend monthly meeting for new member orientation - Receive club ID card required for facility access

The facility maintains strict safety protocols:

Range Rules Highlights: - Tracer rounds, armor-piercing, and incendiary ammunition prohibited - Tannerite and exploding targets strictly prohibited - No alcohol or drug use before/during shooting - Dress code enforced (no flip-flops, tank tops, loose garments) - Cross-lane shooting prohibited - Range officer authority to remove shooters violating safety rules - Cease-fire called immediately when announced—all firearms unloaded, actions open

Bays are clearly marked: - HOT RANGE = currently active - COLD RANGE = not active - DOWN RANGE = shooters downrange, no firearm handling

When leaving a bay, flip signs to indicate status. When heading downrange, both signs flip to DOWN RANGE for everyone's safety.

• •Rolling Enrollment: Join anytime; membership valid 1 year from purchase date. Auto-renewal 30 days before anniversary (credit card required).

As of October 1, 2025, all members, trainers, and students must complete a new liability waiver to use the range. Signed copies are emailed to [email protected] or available at the clubhouse.

The club also has detailed filming policies requiring Board approval. Productions must provide liability insurance details, describe the scope of filming, and specify whether drones or live streaming will occur.
