Full description and what we offer
Eagle Nest Lodge sits in the Chippewa National Forest near Deer River, Minnesota—1.2 million acres of public forestland that's ideal for whitetail hunting. The resort functions as a hunting party headquarters, with cabins that sleep 2 to 14 guests and full kitchens so you can fuel up between days in the field.
The lodge offers 14 cabins ranging from 1 to 5 bedrooms, each with full bathrooms, kitchens, and free wi-fi. After a long hunt, you've got hot water, a real bed, and the option to cook your own meals or relax. Most cabins overlook the water—Cutfoot Sioux Lake and Lake Winnibigoshish are right there.
Minnesota's whitetail population is robust—roughly 500,000 hunters take about 200,000 deer annually. The Chippewa National Forest's public lands are open to hunting (watch for posted private areas). These are serious animals: they run 40 mph, jump 8-foot fences, and the state record is a 500-pound Minnesota buck.
Hunter Education Required: Anyone born on or after December 31, 1979 must complete a Hunter Education/Firearms Safety course before purchasing a hunting license. Minnesota DNR enforces this strictly.
The lodge also offers fishing (walleye on both lakes), watercraft rentals, ice fishing in winter, and duck/goose hunting if you want to mix it up. Grouse hunting is another option during fall.
Contact Eagle Nest Lodge at 218-246-8701 to reserve your cabin and plan your hunt. Owners Bryan and Sue Harris run the operation and can help you dial in dates, cabin size, and logistics.
