Full description and what we offer
Ben Mears started learning taxidermy at age 12 and never stopped improving. In 1989, at 30 years old with nearly two decades of hands-on experience, he committed to designing the absolute best whitetail forms available to taxidermists. What started as observation and refinement has become the standard across the industry.
The craft matters. Ben didn't just sculpt forms—he studied live whitetails obsessively. The Mears family raised a whitetail named Prince for 15 years, and Ben photographed and analyzed every movement, every muscle detail. That kind of research translates into forms that look alive.
Mears Whitetail Forms manufactures over 200 different poses and sizes:
Each form accounts for regional differences—southern whitetails have different proportions than northern stock. Eye sizes, measurements (A, B, & C dimensions), and head replacements come in multiple configurations to match what taxidermists need.

Cole Mears earned the 2025 National Championship (two-time champion). Multiple competition mounts showcase Mears forms mounted on various models.
Taxidermists across the country use these forms for high-level competition work, which means real-world validation at the highest level of the craft.
Most form manufacturers are distant suppliers. Ben Mears is available to answer questions, make suggestions, and offer insight from 40+ years in the field. This is a family-owned operation where the person who designed the forms is still here to explain them. That matters when you're investing in quality equipment for your taxidermy business.
The forms are the foundation. Everything else—the hide paste, the eyes, the hangers—works because the underlying form is anatomically correct and shaped to make your job easier.
