Their flagship offering runs September through October on the wild prairies of Montana. Expect 8–12 miles per day hunting Sharptail Grouse and Hungarian Partridge. You'll load up around 6:30 AM with dogs and gear, break for a tailgate lunch midday, and wrap by 4 PM. Cost: $4,500 for a 3-day hunt (includes lodging). Western Prairie partners with Dave Brown (Montana Guide #15117) for additional upland opportunities in Saco, northeastern Montana. These hunts cover more diverse terrain and birds: Sage Grouse, Sharptail, Hungarian Partridge, and Pheasant. Hunting distances are 5–8 miles per day.

October through January, Western Prairie offers specialized waterfowl hunts targeting mallards and greater Canada geese across Montana's diverse water options—big water, agricultural fields, and small water scenarios. They're selective about group size: no mixed parties, just 1–2 guests per trip. This means quality focus, relationship-building, and turns on decoying with good company.
Their approach emphasizes premium equipment (often customized decoy spreads) and sub-gauge shotguns (20 or 28 gauge) for committed, finishing birds. Expect good opportunities at the 7-duck/5-goose Montana limit.
Pricing: - $1,200 per person for 2 people on a 3-day hunt - $1,500 for 1 person on a 3-day hunt
March through October, they run guided fly fishing trips on the Missouri River (near Craig) and Blackfoot River (near Ovando). Full-day excursions target trophy trout with expert guides who love teaching. $700 per day for 1–2 people.
"Fishing the Missouri River was unforgettable. Our guide knew the best spots, and we caught some trophy trout with ease." — Steven T.
For Missouri River trips, they recommend the Missouri Riverside Lodge, located on 14 scenic acres between Helena and Great Falls (near Craig and Cascade). Six guest rooms feature two full beds, private baths, oak furnishings, optional TVs, and in-room fridges. The main lodge includes dining, social areas, a covered patio, and outdoor seating for stories after the hunt or fish.
Bryce Daviess grew up exploring the Pacific Northwest and moved to Montana after a childhood visit revealed his calling. He combines bottomless patience with contagious enthusiasm for anything wild and feathered or finned.
