Kenny and Coley Low own K Lazy 3 Outfitters, a backcountry hunting operation rooted in Western Montana tradition. Kenny grew up around the K Lazy 3 camps—his father worked for the original owners—and purchased the ranch after attending Montana State University. This isn't a company that moved to Montana to run hunts. These are natives who've spent their entire lives in the terrain they guide.
Hunting takes place in Hunting District 280, one of the few areas in Montana offering early-season rifle bugle hunts starting September 15th. The area has strong bull-to-cow ratios and elk populations exceeding Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks objectives. Hunters can pursue mature bulls or cows depending on their preference.
7-day spring hunts run in June, with additional opportunities during early rifle season (September-October) in Area 280. Many hunters combine bear hunting with world-class fly fishing for West Slope Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout—making it a genuine combination trip, not an afterthought.
When the hunting season closes, K Lazy 3 shifts to scenic horseback rides, guided fly fishing trips, and backcountry tours through the Bob Marshall/Scapegoat Wilderness.
Camp setup: - Spacious sleeping tents (14×17) with cots and foam pads, accommodating up to four hunters - Large cook tent (18×24) for meal preparation - Hot showers at Meadow Creek or shower bucket options elsewhere - Daily sack lunches packed for field days
