MechTech Systems manufactures pistol-to-carbine conversion units (CCUs) that bolt onto your existing Glock, 1911, or Springfield XD/XDM lower receiver. The result: a 16-inch barrel platform that extends your effective range dramatically.

The ATF has clarified that converting between pistol and carbine configuration with a MechTech CCU is legal. Converting back to pistol form doesn't constitute "making a pistol from a rifle."

The CCU ships direct to your door without an FFL required (it's classified as a firearm accessory). However, check your local and state restrictions—not all configurations are legal everywhere.
