Double A Outfitting & Gun Dogs is built on one principle: Aaron Schroder knows how to unlock a bird dog's natural instincts and turn drive into discipline. Whether you're starting a 6-month-old puppy on birds or refreshing a seasoned dog before season, he builds custom programs tailored to what your dog needs.
The foundation training runs 2 months and covers the basics: gun conditioning, bird exposure, collar work, recall, and pointing or retrieving depending on breed and purpose. Aaron puts your dog on real birds—not just bumpers. Most owners report their dogs come back dramatically different: focused, responsive, ready to hunt all day.
Recent graduate reviews tell the story:
"We sent our boy back again for advanced training and am quite amazed at what Aaron can accomplish in just 2 months. We get weekly updates and can see the progression." — August 2025
"Aaron involved us in the training to better handle and understand our dog's high prey drive. Vash just had his first hunting trip and was phenomenal!" — Ashley Isebrand
"My 14-month-old setter had great instincts but I didn't have the time or skill to bring them to fruition. I was amazed at how well she did with the check chord and e-collar by weeks 3 and 5." — Mike Poole
Aaron also offers advanced programs like force fetch training for dogs that need refinement before the season or additional retriever work.
When training ends, hunting begins. Double A operates limited waterfowl memberships on premium property in Western Nebraska and guides hunters for upland and waterfowl throughout Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, and surrounding states. Aaron's pack includes seasoned German Short Haired Pointers and Labrador Retrievers—dogs that have been featured on Scott Linden's Wingshooting USA and in Nebraskaland Magazine.
The operation also collaborates with chefs (recent work with Nick Strawhecker of Dante Forno in Omaha) because good food and good hunting go hand in hand.
Springs, summers, and falls, Aaron takes limited boarding clients from the Omaha and Sioux City areas. Pick-up and drop-off service runs several days a week to Omaha. The difference: your dog doesn't sit in a kennel. He stays active, thinking about birds, staying sharp.
Owner Involvement: Most training packages include field days where YOU work alongside Aaron. He teaches you how to handle your dog, why he's using certain techniques, and sends weekly photo/video updates so you're never in the dark about progress.
