Thompson Outfitters LLC has been guiding spring snow goose hunts throughout the Midwest since the early 2000s. Captain George Thompson Jr., a United States Coast Guard captain, runs the operation with the philosophy that these birds are a daily challenge—and he's built his reputation as one of the best snow goose guides in the country by meeting that challenge head-on.

They target migrating snow geese using massive professional decoy setups:

• •2,500+ full-body decoys per setup, with realistic paint schemes
• •Multiple field locations to ensure hot setups every day
• •Pit blinds, A-frames, and layout blinds—completely concealed before you arrive
• •Latest wireless electronic calls and motion decoys
• •All-day guide presence to make weather adjustments and keep geese in gun range

They follow the spring migration across three states:

• •1-day hunt: $240 per hunter
• •3-day hunt: $650 per hunter
• •5-day hunt: $925 per hunter

They cap mixed groups at 8–9 hunters plus a guide per field. Larger parties get their own private field with dedicated guide. They deliberately don't cram hunters in to maximize harvest—they prioritize hunt quality over raw numbers.
