Full description and what we offer
Burnt Creek Bird Dogs is a small, family-run operation focused on personalized upland gun dog training. Located on their property in northern Reno, they work with a limited number of dogs at a time—which means your pup gets real 1-on-1 attention instead of being one dog among twenty.
Foundation Program ($975/month, 4 weeks) For dogs 4+ months old getting their first season ready: - Basic gun dog manners (come, go with, stand still) - Bird and gun introduction - Pointing drills, natural retrieve, obedience - Food included (Diamond Naturals)
Formal Training ($975/month, 3-month class) Three months of work toward being steady to wing and shot: - Intermediate bird dog manners - Formal WOAH training - Off-leash obedience - Backing introduction - 4 group owner training sessions included - Food included (Diamond Naturals)
Their training season runs February–September because Jason and Maggie are serious hunters who take their own dogs out during hunting season. Private lessons available September–February as time allows.
Boarding - $35/night for 1 dog, $55/night for 2 dogs, $60/night during holidays. Boarded dogs get 1–2 free group runs up their 2-mile hill daily plus lounge time in 5x10 kennels. If you've trained with them before, add tune-up training for $5/day.
Private Lessons - $75/hour for personalized work tailored to your dog's level and your hunting goals.
Facility Use - $30/hour to use their property as training grounds. Includes equipment and up to 6 homing pigeons (with additional fee if your dog takes one).
"Jason speaks dog! Learning from him was a highlight for us as he is kind but firm with the dogs. Not only is she surpassing my husband's standards for hunting but she's a completely different dog inside the house too." — Anna Chatelle, Foundation Class
They don't just train dogs—they teach owners how to lead. The connection between hunter and dog matters as much as the foundation.
