Murdoch and Co. manufactures the EM-85, a semi-automatic remanufactured SA80 that corrects decades of engineering issues from the original British military rifle. Rather than reproduce the SA80 to original specs—which had known reliability problems—they've redesigned it as a modern firearm while maintaining authentic appearance and field-stripping capability.

The original SA80 (L85) earned a poor reputation from underfunding, rushed quotas, and design flaws that persist today. Murdoch and Co. spent extensive time studying real SA80 rifles and identified problems that don't make engineering sense. Their solution:

EM-85 A1 - Ships with real MOD A1 handguard, A1 iron sights, A1 markings, gray springs, and chrome gas piston.

EM-85 A2 - Includes NOS A2 handguard, correct A2 markings and magazine catch, black nitride components, and option for ACOG riser or 20mm RIS adapter.

Each EM-85 incorporates original L85 handguards, mainsprings, and magazine-wells welded by Enfield factory. These MOD-issue parts are in finite supply and increasingly destroyed in the UK, making each rifle inherently limited. Only a handful can be manufactured.

The first 4 pre-production rifles have accumulated over 8,000 rounds with no issues, including one rifle successfully firing 3,000+ rounds. The rifle is now in stage 3 testing.
