Full description and what we offer
Nevada Hunting Services operates as a fully licensed and insured outfitting and guide service led by Master Guide Mitch Bailey, who brings over 30 years of hunting experience in Nevada. The operation is statewide-licensed for all game animals—big game, small game, upland game, waterfowl, fur-bearers, and game fish—with permits to guide on BLM and USFS lands. Most notably, they hold one of Nevada's highly coveted USFS permits for the Carson-Toiyabe Ranger District, covering the 194/196 mule deer hunt units plus units 192, 201, 202, and 204 (the bulk of Nevada's bear units on USFS lands).
This is their flagship hunt. With draw odds rivaling bighorn sheep and some of the largest black bears in the country, black bear season runs September 15 through December 1. Since 2011, Nevada Hunting Services has guided clients to 13 of Nevada's largest hunter-killed bears, including the #1 state record and #2 all-time bear. Average live weights range from 300–500 pounds, with several bears exceeding 600 pounds.
Hunts use traditional hound methods: free-casting through bear habitat, rigging (scent hound tracking from elevated boxes while driving dirt roads), and vehicle-based track spotting. Expect physically demanding terrain and conditions.
| Hunt | Season | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mule Deer | August–December | Nevada's most abundant big game |
| Mountain Lion | November–March (year-round tags available) | Over-the-counter tags; clients regularly take toms 13–15" |
| Elk | Late August–November | Rut hunting mid-to-late September |
| Antelope | August–early October | High desert hunts with painted sunsets |
| Bighorn Sheep | Draw-dependent | Three subspecies: Rocky Mountain, Nelson (Desert), California |
Nevada is home to more bighorn sheep (12,000+) than any other state in the lower 48.
All subguides maintain current first aid certification and Nevada Department of Wildlife guide licenses, with each holding 20+ years of Nevada hunting experience. Client safety is a core operational priority.
2025 non-resident mule deer guided hunt applications are open. Contact them for current availability and rates.
