Steve Murphy is a registered Maine guide and licensed hunting and fishing guide in New Hampshire with an outfitter special use permit for White Mountain National Forest. He's been hunting and fishing since the early 1980s across Maine, New Hampshire, and Minnesota's Boundary Waters—and still counts black bear hunting as his personal favorite.

Northwind operates three distinct services:

Hunting Trips - Moose hunts (lottery-based, 9 days if needed) — includes field care, lodging, and meals - Deer hunts from active stands and blinds—field care included; lodging and meals available for extra fee - Black bear hunts over bait from ground blinds and stands in prime territory. Dense forests, hemlocks, beech, and berries mean bears come in regularly

Hunting takes place in wildlife management units A, B, C2, and E.

Fishing & Fly Fishing - Wade fishing on local rivers and streams - Boat trips on larger waters (Androscoggin, Magalloway Rivers, and lakes) - Remote pond access by canoe - Fly fishing schools ($525/person, 4-person minimum) held weekends with cabin tents, wood stoves, electricity, and all meals included - Half-day and full-day casting lessons on private trout ponds

Canoe Trips - One day, weekend, or week-long expeditions for fishing, camping, and photography

50% deposit required to book. Full refunds for cancellations 14+ days out.

Base camp offers cabin tents with wood floors, wood stoves, electricity, plus shower house with hot showers. Shore lunches included on full-day fishing trips.

Steve holds CPR, First Aid, and Solo Wilderness First Aid certifications. He's licensed as a commercial boat operator and knows the White Mountain area thoroughly.
