Full description and what we offer
The Grouse Woods at Red Gate Farm is a private hunting and fishing club operated by the Connolly family in Temple, New Hampshire. Founded on Martin Connolly's vision to create traditional hunting grounds, the preserve has been a licensed NH hunting preserve since 1987 and remains anchored in family values and good sportsmanship.
Unlike tower shoots or European-style operations, The Grouse Woods specializes in traditional field hunting only. The landscape tells the story: restored colonial-era farmland transformed into natural upland bird habitat featuring rocky ground, oak ridges, bogs, brambles, and weed-grown meadows. Low cover in summer transitions to high cover in winter, creating ideal conditions year-round.
"Walking these trails is like boarding a time machine. The work of several generations of farmers is unmistakable, reflected in the rocky ground and hinted at in wood decays, iron rust, and cellar holes."
Hunt on your own or with experienced guides and exceptional gun dogs. Members get early-season accessibility and a long hunting window from September through March.
The club enforces strict safety procedures: walk-up hunting only, hunting parties limited to 4 people with maximum 2 loaded guns in the field at any time. The Connolly family manages the property as environmental custodians, maintaining logging roads and supporting native game populations.
New memberships include a personal tour. Call (603) 924-6030 to discuss your hunting interests and schedule a visit to the grounds.
Planned improvements include a modernized, larger dog kennel facility and expanded gathering space for members.
