Jerry Kucharski and his wife moved to the South Jersey shore after owning and operating a successful guide service in Delaware for nearly a quarter-century. They brought that experience with them when they launched South Jersey Shore Outfitters, focusing primarily on duck hunting with Canada and snow goose seasons mixed in.

Jerry holds a licensed U.S. Coast Guard captain rating—a real credential that matters when you're hunting coastal waters and back bays.

Puddle Duck Hunts - Species: Teal, wood ducks, gadwall, mallards, pintail, widgeon, black ducks - Setup: 18–24 foot plywood blinds with ice heaters to maintain open water in winter - Locations: Multiple blinds across three South Jersey counties - Shot distances: 15–35 yards over decoys - Best months: October through January (teal/woodies early season; bigger ducks like mallards and black ducks in January)

Snow Goose Hunts - Population: Southern New Jersey winters up to 150,000 snow geese, arriving late November through late March - Equipment: Two mobile rigs with 1,200 decoys each, plus a permanent rig with approximately 4,000 decoys - Conservation season option: Electronic callers allowed, unplugged guns (7 shells max), no bag limit—can produce aggressive shooting opportunities

Brant & Diver Duck Hunts - Location: Coastal zone and back bays of South Jersey - Setup: Panel blinds, both water and land rigs - Capacity: Up to 6 hunters per party - Species: Brant, black ducks, bufflehead, occasional bluebills - Shot distances: 20–35 yards - Context: New Jersey hosts approximately 70% of the Atlantic Brant population during winter—a critical wintering area

Canada Goose Hunts - Season: September through late January (resident birds early, migratory birds through January) - Setup: Large pit blinds for resident birds; 16–24 foot plywood blinds for combo duck-goose hunts

South Jersey sits downwind of Delaware Bay and its tidal marshes—the traditional roosting area for migrating waterfowl. The region is dotted with massive grain farms that provide natural food sources. Instead of hunting the same public pressure spots, South Jersey Shore Outfitters has leased quality farmland throughout the south zone. Less pressure equals better bird movement.

Hunts are conducted from quality blinds with proper spacing for comfort and room to move. All hunts are over decoys. Shot opportunities typically fall in the 15–35 yard range. The operation runs year-round guided services, so they understand the seasonal patterns of each species and adjust strategy accordingly.
