Radiant R Outfitters specializes in guided aoudad (Barbary sheep) hunts across two distinct New Mexico hunting areas, each offering different terrain, trophy potential, and price points.
The McGregor Range (Game Management Unit 28) in southern New Mexico is regarded as the state's premier Barbary sheep unit. Located just across the border from El Paso, this area sits within Fort Bliss and requires specialized permitting—Radiant R is fully authorized and conducts more McGregor hunts than likely any other outfitter in the state.
Non-resident tags here are brutally hard to draw (less than 2% odds), but when you do, expect to hunt large free-range aoudad populations with realistic trophy expectations of 32"+ rams. McGregor Range hunts run 2 days and cost $3,500.
Radiant R has extensive experience guiding New Mexico Governor's Auction tags—the exclusive "Exotic Package" that pairs a White Sands oryx tag with a McGregor aoudad tag.
These southeastern New Mexico units stretch from outside Carlsbad across the Guadalupe Rim toward the Texas border. The terrain is vast—big rock cliffs, thick cedar brush—and hunts demand serious leg work. Expect 7-8 miles of hiking daily on challenging ground.
This is what outfitters call "the poor man's sheep hunt." Trophy potential runs 28-30", lower than McGregor, but the physicality and adventure make up for it. 5-day hunts cost $6,000 with meals and lodging provided nearby.
