Full description and what we offer
Turner Ranch Outfitting (TRO) is the commercial hunting division of Turner Enterprises, Inc., managing hunts across 14 western and midwestern properties spanning Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, and South Dakota. Each ranch is operated under Ted Turner's conservation mandate: sustain wildlife populations, manage habitat, and maintain ecological balance while providing hunting opportunities.
Vermejo, a Ted Turner Reserve — The flagship property covers 558,000 acres in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Terrain ranges from short-grass prairie to alpine tundra at 13,000 feet. The ranch holds large herds of elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, pronghorn antelope, and bison. Over 180 bird species are catalogued here, including Merriam's turkey, bald eagles, golden eagles, and red-tailed hawks.
Vermejo is renowned for its world-class guest operation and luxury accommodations—from Casa Grande manor to Costilla Fishing Lodge to private cottages.
Ladder, a Ted Turner Reserve — Spans 156,000 biodiverse acres in Caballo, New Mexico, featuring Rio Grande tributaries flowing into high desert hills climbing toward the Black Range. Known for exceptional bull elk populations and desert bighorn sheep in the Fra Cristobal Mountains.
Armendaris, a Ted Turner Reserve — Desert basin landscape in south-central New Mexico managed for free-range African oryx, desert bighorn sheep herds, and bison. The Jornada del Muerto wilderness area defines the terrain.
Flying D Ranch — Major bison operation with diverse habitat supporting elk, deer, and upland game.
Snowcrest Ranch — 13,343 acres along the Upper Ruby River in southwestern Montana. Diverse landscape from cottonwood/juniper river bottoms to pine forests beneath the Snowcrest and Greenhorn peaks. Elk, deer, bison, black bear, mountain lion, and songbird populations. Hunts arranged through longtime partner Montana Hunting Company.
Bad River Ranch (South Dakota) — 148,000 acres of mixed-grass prairie in central South Dakota with one of the largest bison herds in the state. Also hosts whitetail and mule deer, pronghorn, and elk. Historical significance—the Bad River mouth is where Lewis and Clark met the Teton Sioux.
Standing Butte Ranch (South Dakota) — Additional South Dakota hunting property.
Z-Bar Ranch (Kansas) — Kansas hunting operation.
The Sandhills (Nebraska) — Nebraska ranch property.
