Occoneechee Hunting Lodge

Occoneechee Hunting Lodge has been running guided hunts since 1989 from their base near Garysburg, NC, in the historical Occoneechee Neck area. The lodge controls 10,000 acres across family-owned properties that span parts of Longview Plantation and General Matt Ransom's historic plantation.

Located in Northampton County—the state leader in deer kills for several consecutive years—the lodge sits directly across the Roanoke River from Halifax County, the #2 deer kill county in North Carolina. This puts hunters in the heart of some of the most productive whitetail territory in the state.

Deer Hunts: Gun and muzzle-loading hunts available. Guided hunts run from before daylight until around 10:00 AM, then again from lunch until dark. Hunters choose between two distinct areas: - Unrestricted area (5,000 acres): No antler restrictions - Managed area (5,000 acres): Bucks must have 15-inch outside spread minimum

Turkey Hunts: The Roanoke River bottom holds the highest concentration of wild turkeys in North Carolina. Turkey season runs four weeks starting the second week in April.

Over the past several years, hunters have enjoyed an over 100% success ratio

The lodge's guide staff are all experienced hunters themselves. They don't guarantee kills—under some conditions deer movement varies—but their track record speaks for itself. Hunters can book three full days or six full days of hunting, with the most liberal bag limits available.

The property sits in the peanut belt of Northeastern North Carolina, accessible from Jackson, NC. The 8,000-acre hunting area spans Northampton County on the historical Roanoke River, providing diverse terrain and proven deer populations.
