Lickstone Outfitters began as a one-man operation when Jeremy Messer started guiding bear hunts from a storage shed. His commitment to keeping hunts affordable—even while sleeping rough—built a reputation that grew into a full family operation. By 2020, his wife Stacee left corporate America to join the guide service and immediately tagged a 470-pound bear scoring 20 and 10/16 inch.

Jeremy has hound hunted bear since childhood, and that passion drives the business. Today they run three primary hunt types:

Black Bear Hound Hunts — Listen to the pack track, trail, and tree or ground the bear. 1:1 guide service with Jeremy and his hounds. - Coastal: $6,000 (includes lodging, meals, guide) - Mountain: $4,000 (guide only, no lodging/meals)

Over-Bait Black Bear Hunts — East coast location, lodging and meals included. - 5-Day: $5,500 - 3-Day: $4,200 - Tags and tips not included

Deer Hunts — 3-day meat deer hunts with optional buck add-on. - Base: $1,250 (includes 2 doe, lodging, 2 meals daily) - Add 1 buck (6-point or better, outside ears): $250

Their first customer has hunted with them every year since 2016 and tagged out every single time.

Jeremy and Stacee don't just focus on successful harvests—they build relationships. The business grew from a need to make bear hunting accessible to average hunters, not just wealthy outfitters. That philosophy still drives pricing and service.
