Meadow Wood Farms has operated since 1994 as a private members-only hunting and clay shooting destination. Located on 900 acres in Waxhaw, NC—just 25 miles south of Charlotte—the property spans upland bird fields, waterfowl impoundments, and a purpose-built clay course, all designed for serious hunters and shooters.
The property features: - 13-station sporting clays course spread across open fields, ponds, and hardwoods - 10-acre dove field specifically planted and maintained for September hunts - 20-acre flooded duck impoundment for released duck hunts - Upland bird fields with longleaf pines and mixed cover for quail and pheasant - Historic Farmhouse with overnight lodging for members
Membership includes one night of lodging for two people at the Farmhouse. Additional hunts, shooting, and lodging are invoiced separately.
Quail Hunts - 2-person, 50-bird half-day hunts over scenic fields. Guided hunts with professionally trained pointing dogs. Longleaf pine and mixed groundcover creates natural covey rises. Chef-prepared meals included. You can add pheasant or chukar to extend the experience. Shotgun rentals and ammunition available.
Pheasant Hunts - Three distinct styles: - Driven hunts (8-15 people): English-style pheasant hunting with groups, geared toward family or corporate events - Tower hunts (up to 15 hunters): Released from an 80-foot tower, birds fly fast and high; hunters rotate stations for varied presentations - Field hunts (2-person): Similar to quail hunts but with released pheasants on Southern-style hunt courses
All pheasant hunts include guides and retrievers. Chef-driven meals available. Shotgun rentals and ammo for additional cost.
Dove Hunts - Annual event typically held the second Saturday of September. 10-acre field planted in spring and maintained through summer. Lunch included. Members and their guests welcome.
Duck Hunts - Released duck hunts on the 20-acre flooded impoundment. Afternoon hunts typically best. Accommodates small or large groups. Expert guides and skilled retrievers provided.
The 13-station course offers 50 or 100-target rounds with single shots, report pairs, and doubles simulating high-flying ducks, crossing quail, and bouncing rabbits. Experienced trappers provide safety instruction and basic technique coaching.
The Flurry station tests team skills: 50 targets presented in 1½ minutes for up to 5 shooters—pushing quick shooting and reloading to the limit.
Membership is limited and requires application and approval through www.meadowwoodusa.com. Annual membership includes: - Access to all facilities and services - One night lodging for two at the Farmhouse - Ability to attend member-sponsored events - Option to add a "Designee" with identical privileges
All hunting, shooting, additional lodging, and meals are billed separately from the annual membership fee.
Meadow Wood has partnered with local schools, non-profit organizations, and ministries for over 20 years to host sporting clay fundraiser events. Annual events have proven successful for returning organizations looking to raise awareness and funds.
