Full description and what we offer
Indian Hill Gun Club operates shooting ranges at Camp Dennison on State Route 126, built on 31 acres purchased in 1958 from the federal government. What's now a modern shooting facility once served as a Civil War post and later a National Guard training ground.
The history runs deep. Village Rangers practiced at ranges dating back decades, eventually winning trophies in local and national competitions. The club's Junior Rifle Club (1962-1983) trained up to 100 youths aged 12-18, who competed at Camp Perry and won first-place trophies in Ohio state competitions for five consecutive years.
The facility includes two separate ranges:
| Facility | Distances | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Stationary targets | 25 feet to 100 yards | Pistol and rifle practice |
| Moving targets | Variable | Skeet, trap, sporting clays |
Family memberships include weekend range access. Members also participate in Tuesday and Thursday evening shotgun shoots. A Range Supervisor or assistant is on-site whenever the range is open, offering informal instruction and enforcing strict safety protocols.
Safety First - Eye protection and earplugs mandatory. All youths must be accompanied by a parent. Buzzers and flashing lights signal cease-fire conditions.
Members range from hunters honing marksmanship to recreational shooters. According to club members, "shooting is a perishable skill" requiring consistent practice to maintain proficiency.
