Captain Ken's Wild Wings operates fully guided fishing and duck hunting charters on Lake Erie, based in Port Clinton, Ohio. Captain Kenny Lewis brings military-grade preparation to every outing—he's a U.S. Army veteran and former combat Chaplain with decades of experience on Lake Erie and multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
What separates this operation from typical charter companies? Lewis runs on the same discipline, planning, and adaptability he relied on in uniform. Every trip has backup plans. Every boat is maintained to mission-ready standards. And he's on the water 260+ days annually, which means he knows these fisheries better than most.
Trips include all necessary gear, tackle, bait, decoys, blinds, and calling setups. Fish are cleaned and filleted. All you bring: a valid Ohio fishing or hunting license, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing. Groups run up to 6 guests per boat, and trips typically last 4–5 hours, though they're structured as full-day experiences because the fishing action often gets handled quickly.
Trips start at 7 AM (or 1 PM for afternoon options) and run nearly year-round—from early spring ice-out through December, long after most charters shut down. The Lake Erie bite stays strong into late fall, and you'll often have the lake to yourself.
Lake Erie holds some of the Midwest's most consistent walleye runs. Peak season runs April–May (spring run) and mid-June through early July (summer peak). Captain Ken offers multiple walleye approaches:
| Trip Type | Duration | Boat | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morning Walleye Trolling | 7–8 hours | 39' Tiara | $600+ |
| Afternoon Walleye Trolling | 4–5 hours | 39' Tiara | $600+ |
| Casting for Walleye | 7 hours | 39' Tiara | $600+ |
| Fall Brawl Tournament | 5 hours | 28' Duckwater or 39' Tiara | $600–$1,400 |
| Walleye Slam Tournament | 5 hours | 28' Duckwater or 39' Tiara | $600–$1,400 |
For tournament competitors, Captain Ken guides Fall Brawl and Walleye Slam charters during peak competition season—when trophy-class walleye are staging nearshore and feeding aggressively before winter.
Late July through October, you can target trophy Smallmouth Bass or prolific Yellow Perch runs on the 39' Tiara. These are multi-species options that let you experience the full range of Lake Erie's fishery.
Add $250 to any fishing trip to target Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, and Yellow Perch in a single day—ideal for anglers who want to experience the lake's best action.
Duck season runs October through January, with peak action in late fall. Captain Ken hunts open water and marsh blinds, targeting:
| Boat | Capacity | Specialty |
|---|---|---|
| 32' Duckwater | 6 shooters | Open-water gunning from full boat |
| 28' Duckwater | 6 shooters | Open-water gunning, proven design |
| 22' Phowler | 4 shooters | Stealthy hide for big ducks (Mallards, Pintails) |
| Layout Addictions Ghost | 2 shooters (up to 6 rotating) | Close, "in your face" layout gunning |
All decoys, blinds, and calling are provided. You bring your own shotgun, ammo, and valid hunting licenses/stamps.
Shooters rotate every 35 minutes or until limit is reached on layout boats, ensuring everyone gets equal airtime.
Captain Ken also runs:
28' & 32' Duckwater Boats - Purpose-built duck hunting vessels - Proven design for Lake Erie open-water hunting - Full decoy and blind systems
22' Phowler - Specialized hide for big duck species - Ideal for tactical waterfowl hunting
Layout Addictions Ghost Rig - 2-man layout boat - Safe, stable platform for close-range gunning
Captain Kenny Lewis is a U.S. Army veteran and former combat Chaplain. His military background shows in every detail: mission planning, equipment maintenance, risk management, and leadership. He knows Lake Erie's seasonal patterns, fish behavior, waterfowl migrations, and weather dynamics like few people on the water.
