Mapleton Gun Club was formed in 1959 as a trapshooting club and incorporated in Ohio that same year. The club purchased its current grounds in 1963 and built its clubhouse and ranges there. The clubhouse measures 40 by 50 feet with a porch facing the ranges, and the property has parking at each end.
The grounds have separate trap and rifle/pistol ranges. The trapshooting side includes multiple numbered trap houses, with fixed steel and PVC markers set out front indicating distances for the trap fields. On the rifle and pistol range, shooting is restricted to paper targets, and pistol shooters use a designated section near the trap houses rather than sharing lanes with rifle shooters.
Mapleton is a members' club and an NRA member club, with limited public access for trapshooting.
