AIA Central Oklahoma runs an organized sporting clays event each year at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports (8513 S. Douglas Blvd, Guthrie). The tournament draws a large crowd of architects and allied professionals looking for a day outside the office.
The schedule runs tight: - 11:30 AM – Registration opens - 12:00–12:45 PM – BBQ lunch - 12:45 PM – Mandatory safety briefing - 1:00 PM – Shooting begins
With high participation, they've added a second course to handle volume. You'll shoot either the Bronze or Silver course depending on assignments.
Individual shooters keep their own score while also contributing to a team card. Awards go to: - 1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams - Best shooter (auto) - Best shooter (pump) - Best woman shooter
Every participant must complete a liability waiver before shooting. Shotguns must have barrels 18" or longer with a shoulder stock—no riot guns or clipped shotguns. Ammunition specifications are strict: shot sizes 7½, 8, 8½, or 9, with ounce limits by gauge (12ga max 1⅛ oz, 20ga max 1 oz, 28ga max ⅞ oz, .410 max ½ oz).
No alcoholic beverages on Silverleaf property. Valid driver's license required for vehicle operation. Safety glasses and ear protection are mandatory for everyone on the course.
