Full description and what we offer

Stillwater Outfitters has operated since 1985 as Colorado's dedicated Canada goose and duck hunting service. They control exclusive hunting rights across 25+ locations on the Front Range between Denver and Fort Collins—spanning the areas around Ft. Collins, Windsor, Greeley, Longmont, Brighton, and Denver.

You hunt from comfortable, well-concealed pits and blinds over large, full-body decoy spreads. The outfitter provides everything: experienced guides, decoys, pits, blinds, dogs, and any other equipment needed. Each hunt is limited in daily frequency using proven management techniques to keep pressure low and bird quality high.

Canada Goose Hunts - Hunt over corn, wheat, barley, alfalfa, water, and occasionally frozen lakes and ponds - 1/2 hour before sunrise to 3 PM or limits reached - $300 per hunter, half-day format - Two-gun minimum / four-gun maximum per group - Youth discount: $100 off (kids 13 and under, minimum 2 adults) - 50% deposit required, non-refundable

Duck Hunts - Available October through mid-January (peak: mid-October through November) - Morning hunts typically more productive, but afternoon hunts can be excellent depending on weather - Hunt private lakes and ponds secured exclusively by Stillwater - Permanent blinds, portable layout blinds, or natural cover - Bring your own dog or use their retriever - Same pricing: $300 per hunter, half-day - Youth discounts and gun limits apply

The operation runs five professional guides with deep roots in Colorado waterfowl hunting:

  • •Travis Reininger (Owner/Manager) – Born and raised in Brighton, grew up in a hunting family
  • •Tim Hass – Raised in Lakewood, now Thornton; lifetime hunting and fishing background
  • •Craig Reininger – Brighton native, competitive goose caller placing top 3 in calling contests nationwide, known for repeat clients
  • •Scott Doak – 30 years of waterfowl hunting experience, also hunts elk and mule deer
  • •Tom Henderson – Started waterfowl hunting in 2000 on South Platte River near Greeley, hunts October through mid-February

You supply: guns, ammo, camera, sunglasses, personal gear. Temperature ranges from +65°F to -10°F depending on season—dress in layers. Good felt-lined pack boots recommended.

Stillwater assists with arranging clean, comfortable rooms, hunting licenses, and stamps. You'll need a Colorado Hunter Education Certificate to purchase a hunting license—verify current requirements at Colorado Parks & Wildlife.

Before booking: Check Colorado Parks & Wildlife for current waterfowl seasons, bag limits, and licensing requirements.

The guides also run turkey hunts and hunt big game (elk, mule deer) during off-season, though waterfowl is the core focus. They feature endorsed products on their site and document hunts regularly on Instagram (@costillwateroutfitters) and Facebook.

Hunters from around the world have discovered the thrill of hunting this setting—repeat clients are common.
