Full description and what we offer
Whiteout Outfitters guides hunters through spring snow goose migration across Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa—some of the most consistent locations along the Central and Mississippi Flyways. The team has spent over two decades learning how weather patterns, wind direction, and migration timing affect bird movements, and they use that knowledge to position hunters for high-volume action.
Their spring snow goose hunts aren't small operations. Whiteout uses large decoy spreads and electronic calls to draw in migrating flocks. During peak season (late February through mid-March), these aren't novelty hunts—hunters regularly see massive numbers of birds. The Missouri Conservation Order allows unlimited daily harvest during the spring light goose season, with no plugs required and magazine extensions acceptable.
Hunts happen in Northwest Missouri north of Loess Bluffs NWR, an area they've proven works consistently despite year-to-year migration variations. Each day starts with guides reading current wind and migration patterns, then adapting positioning and calling tactics accordingly.
The central and Mississippi Flyways hold an estimated 5-10 million snow geese. This population has become overabundant, threatening Arctic breeding grounds and agricultural fields across the Midwest. The Conservation Order season exists specifically to manage these numbers, making spring hunts both exciting and ecologically important.
| Location | Season | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Missouri | Mid-Feb to Late March | Peak migration late Feb–early March; $700/person for 3 days |
| Kansas | Spring season | Central Flyway prime location |
| Nebraska | Spring season | Agricultural fields, high-volume potential |
| Iowa | Spring season | Central Flyway location |
Beyond snow geese, Whiteout runs fully guided and semi-guided spring turkey hunts in Southern and Northern Michigan (mid-April through end of May). Southern Michigan hunts run $450–$700 depending on days and guide level. Northern Michigan all-inclusive 3-day hunts run $2,500–$3,000 for up to two people, including meals, lodging, and transportation.
In managed flocks, hunters get two shot opportunities at birds—miss your first shot and you'll get another at the next Tom or Jake.
Whiteout customizes hunts for specific groups: - Veterans & Service Member hunts - Bachelor party hunts - Spring break hunts - Ladies-only hunts - Graduation gift hunts
Reserving a hunt requires a $350 non-refundable deposit per person for snow goose hunts (mid-Feb to late March). Balance is due before arrival or on the first hunting morning. Clay O'Rourke owns the outfitting operation. Guides include Cody Braat, Trevor Sousley, Ryan Bowman, and Matt Peters, with assistant guides handling setup and videography (Josh Veldink manages video/photos).
