Full description and what we offer
Duck Creek Outfitters operates across the eastern plains of Saskatchewan, Canada, covering more than 13,000 square miles of prime farmland on the Central Flyway. The location creates what they call the "perfect storm" of waterfowl: ideal water, food sources, and wide-open spaces that produce legendary bird numbers.
Sykes Mitchell, owner and operator, has been guiding hunters to choice spots for over 12 years. What sets Duck Creek apart: they're one of the few U.S.-owned outfitters in Canada, which means they understand the friction points for American hunters. They handle the paperwork maze—Canadian firearm registration (Firearm Form 5589), dog documentation, licensing requirements—so you don't have to figure it out yourself.
The spring season targets light geese during peak migration. Hunters describe it as seeing "blizzards of snow geese" moving through the prairie. The volume of birds is phenomenal enough that Duck Creek can customize hunts for either volume shooting or selective harvest of specific color phases.
Spring Hunt Details: - 4 days / 4 nights - Up to 7 hunts included - Basic and Premium packages available - Peak season runs Mid-April through Mid-May - Light geese only during spring season
The fall season opens September 1st when birds begin migrating south. Duck Creek hunts until early November when most Canadian waterfowl have headed for warmer regions. Fall hunts target multiple species: mallards, Canadian geese, snow geese, and sandhill cranes.
Their approach: groups of 4 to 8 hunters with customization built in. If you want mallards, that's the focus. If your party wants variety, they adjust. The Central Flyway's geography creates what they describe as "a sky blackened with cloud after cloud of Canadian geese" or "a tornado of mallards funneling into a pothole."
