North Santiam Sportsman's Club is a member-owned recreational facility established in 1958, dedicated to hunting, fishing, and outdoor sports on the scenic south shore of Detroit Lake in Detroit, Oregon.

Founded by five families with a shared passion for the outdoors, North Santiam Sportsman's Club (NSSC) has evolved into a thriving community of nearly 100 member families. The club maintains its original mission of providing a welcoming environment for outdoor enthusiasts while preserving the natural beauty of the region.

Location & Setting

NSSC occupies a picturesque location on Detroit Lake's south shore, offering members a serene retreat for camping, boating, and recreational activities. The lakeside setting provides an ideal backdrop for outdoor recreation in central Oregon.

Facilities & Amenities

The club features comprehensive facilities for its membership:

  • 58 campsites with running water and basic amenities (tent sites and RV-friendly locations)
  • 60 boat slips with dedicated swim dock for lake access
  • Historic lodge available for member events and gatherings
  • Full member community with shared recreational infrastructure

Membership Information

NSSC is a private, members-only facility. The club currently maintains a full waiting list but accepts applications for future membership consideration. Prospective members should contact the club secretary to join the email notification list for when applications reopen.

Membership Costs:

  • Application fee: $100 (non-refundable, includes background check)
  • New member fee: $900 (after application fee credit)
  • Annual dues: $450 (due by October 31)

Annual Member Requirements:

  • Pay annual dues of $450
  • Complete 15 volunteer hours supporting club operations
  • Attend at least one board meeting yearly
  • Meet minimum camp usage (12-18 days annually, depending on membership tier)
  • Serve one weekend as camp host during summer season
