Big R Bird Ranch operates a dedicated hunting preserve across 350 acres in York County, Pennsylvania. The diverse terrain—open fields, natural switchgrass, tree lines, and natural water sources—is specifically designed for upland game hunting. Owned and operated by Chad Rutter and Eric Rentzel, the ranch focuses on creating a solid hunting experience without unnecessary complications.

If you don't have a hunting dog, a guide with a dog is required. Bird cleaning available for $4 per bird (breasted out only).
Self-guided hunts begin September 1st; guided hunts start October 1st through March 31st. The ranch is closed Sundays. Appointments only—48-hour reservation required. For custom pricing and group bookings, contact the ranch directly.
Big R Bird Ranch hosts the Winter Classic Chukar Challenge (January 24, 2026), a competitive event with pointing and flushing divisions. Entry: $110 per dog; doubles teams $130.
