Full description and what we offer
Busen School of Taxidermy offers hands-on taxidermy training for people serious about turning this into a career or mastering the craft. This isn't a weekend seminar—it's a full six-week program where you actually learn to mount animals correctly.
Rudy Busen has 27 years of professional taxidermy work and 14 years of teaching experience. This matters because you're learning from someone who's done thousands of mounts, not a theorist reading from a textbook. He works directly with every student to catch technique problems before they become habits.
Classes max out at 2 students. That's it. You're not sitting in a room with 20 people waiting for your turn at a workstation. You get direct instruction, immediate feedback, and the ability to ask questions without holding up a group.
Over the six weeks, you'll complete:
You can bring your own game head with advanced notice if you want to practice on something specific.
All tools are furnished for the duration of your class. You're not buying a $3,000 toolkit before day one.
You'll learn wet technique for taxidermy application. The instruction covers what you actually need for mounting work—not full hide tanning for rugs, which requires different equipment entirely.
The school sits on Beaver Lake near Rogers, Arkansas (17398 East Highway 12). Several reasonable hotels with kitchenettes are nearby. Transportation to and from lodging can be arranged if needed. You can also bring a camping trailer and park on-site.
Room and board is your responsibility — the school handles the instruction, you handle your accommodations. Extended stay hotels and RV parks are plentiful in the area.

The school's mission is to set you apart from every other taxidermist by combining individual skills, proper technique, and creativity. You're not learning assembly-line basics—you're learning how to create lifelike mounts that stand out.
The school maintains a gallery of completed work showing the level of quality you should be hitting by the end of your training.
Feel free to reach out with questions or to enroll. The school answers inquiries by phone or through their contact form.
