Columbia Coast Outfitters operates hunts in both Western and Eastern Washington for hunters serious about sea ducks and divers. The guides here aren't newcomers to waterfowl—they've spent decades on the water learning how these birds work.
Captain Brett Winegarden grew up hunting sea ducks and basin divers for 30 years. He learned from his father Scott to stay adaptable and experiment—that's where the success comes from. His philosophy: "sit down, shut up, and shoot."
Jake Stearns started waterfowl hunting in his teens and progressed from small ponds to chasing divers on big water. He now focuses on the Pacific Flyway's sea duck opportunities.
Seth Ackley has been duck hunting since age 13 and brings prior big game guiding experience. He trains his own bird dogs and runs a taxidermy operation on the side.
Colby Sarvis grew up in South Carolina's Pee Dee region hunting black water rivers, then moved to Washington's coastal salt marshes and bays. He's hunted the entire Atlantic Flyway and Mississippi, but keeps coming back to the Pacific Flyway's variety and volume. Barrow's Goldeneye are his specialty—watching them backpedal over decoys is what he loves to share.
"You won't find a better place to live a dream than here." — Colby Sarvis
They run Chesapeake Bay retrievers bred for extreme conditions. These aren't casual hunting dogs—they're built for tough saltwater work and harsh weather.
