Location details and information
Collins Lowcountry Hunt Club operates across three of South Carolina's highest-producing game counties—Bamberg, Colleton, and Hampton. The operation spans 5,500 acres of prime lowcountry terrain with a mixture of river bottoms, pine ridges, and higher farming areas that keep deer and turkeys fed year-round.
Deer season runs August 15th through January 1st—the longest in the U.S. Velvet hunts last through Labor Day weekend, and the rut spans October and November. They hunt seven days a week, allowing two bucks per day (one small buck under 12" wide per hunter per season). Turkey hunting packages run during their dedicated season.
Over 150 stands dot the property, all wrapped for concealment with roofs for weather protection and shade. Most stands accommodate two hunters. The operation maintains food plots year-round with a mix of seven different forages, plus corn fed year-round and at least weekly during hunting season. With this rotation system, they maintain sightings through December.
The club can accommodate 15 hunters per day comfortably, though they rarely book that many at once.
| Zone | Requirements | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Open Areas | No minimum | Perfect for first-timers |
| Trophy Areas | 15" outside spread minimum | Long-managed for quality |
| Big Trophy Area | 16" outside spread / 110 B&C score minimum | 13 seasons of strict management, mature bucks only |
The camp sleeps hunters in 12 bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms. Bunks are sturdy metal frames (double on bottom, single on top) with comfortable mattresses. The game and trophy room features 3 large couches, a pool table, ping pong table, large-screen TV, and wireless internet.
Two ranges on-property: one rifle range reaching 150 yards, plus a bow range with several 3D targets.
Miss Geneva handles cooking—country-style home cooking, breakfast before morning hunts, then a full course hot breakfast after morning hunts (eggs, biscuits, bacon, sausage, ham). Snacks and sandwich fixings available before afternoon hunts. The main meal after evening hunts is the day's largest. Average weight gain over a 3-day hunt: 5+ pounds.
Hunters go through an orientation (usually the afternoon before) covering safety rules, what can be shot, and stand procedures. Groups of up to 6 head out in a vehicle, dropped at stands quietly to avoid human scent contamination of feeding areas. Guides pick up hunters after the hunt and handle trophy processing or bring animals back to camp for photos and self-dressing.
