Byrum High Plains Guide Service

Byrum High Plains Guide Service started in 1974 when Josh Byrum's grandfather opened a duck and goose hunting camp. Today, it operates as a third-generation family outfitter running guided hunts near Pierre, South Dakota—40 miles north of the capital on private land that's home to Triple B Bird Dogs.

They specialize in: - Pheasant hunts - $400/day per hunter, lodging included - Duck and goose hunts - Variable pricing based on season and group size - Upland game - Sharp-tail grouse and prairie chickens on the same property

Groups range from 2 to 20 people. Kids are always welcome.

The hunting grounds sit on the edge of the Missouri River near Lake Oahe. The lodge—built in 2014—overlooks the bluffs with views of the water and river breaks. Amenities include:

Josh and Dustin Byrum run the hunts personally. Clients note they have "great knowledge of the area" and "know where to go all day long." They provide trained hunting dogs, but you can bring your own—just let them know ahead of time.

The operation handles both first-time hunters (who leave wanting to bring 10 friends next year) and experienced hunters with their own dogs.
