Full description and what we offer
Hills View Hunts sits deep in McPherson County, South Dakota—one of the nation's highest pheasant count regions. Owner Kevin Smalley built this operation on 10,000 acres of native tall grass prairie, strategically managed food plots, and proximity to the Central Flyway's marshes and small lakes. The result: hunters who've tried other lodges across the region come back here.
The property has never been plowed. That matters. Old-timers who've hunted South Dakota for 30+ years call this a hidden gem.

All packages include bird processing. If you bring your own dogs, they can hunt alongside the outfit's trained dogs—Kevin's crew knows how to work with outside dogs without conflict.
The Big Cock Lodge is clean, fully furnished, and comfortable enough that hunters forget they're 12 miles from the nearest town (Eureka, SD). Wide-open views of prairie and sky. Heated kennels for your dogs if you bring them ($500 minimum damage fee applies if kennels show damage).
From clients who've hunted everywhere:
> "I have hunted pheasants in South Dakota for over 30 years, hunting private land and staying at some of the most popular hunting lodges in the state. I have to say that Hills View is a hidden gem! The property has hundreds and hundreds of acres of native grasses and strategically located food plots that support a huge pheasant population. Kevin does an outstanding job managing the land and promoting pheasant habitat." — Brent McKay, IL
> "Came up here from Arizona, Nebraska, and Colorado. All are long time hunters and have hunted several places, Hills View Hunts is by far the best hunting we have done." — Jordan & Ashleigh Loucks, AZ
What stands out: - You hunt different ground every day (unless you request the same area) - Knowledgeable, business-like guides who know their dogs and the game - Birds are there—hunters get limit opportunities daily - The land itself: unplowed native prairie, scattered wetlands, actual wilderness feel - Kevin's been doing this since at least 1992; some clients have hunted with him for 8+ seasons running
