Full description and what we offer
LaGoDa Wings operates a hunting lodge near Kimball, SD, situated on US Interstate 90 roughly 100 miles west of Sioux Falls and 20 miles east of Chamberlain. The operation focuses on guided pheasant hunts with lodging and facilities designed around serious bird hunters.
Driving: I-90 access makes it straightforward—Kimball is the reference point.
Flying: Multiple options depending on your aircraft: - Commercial: Sioux Falls is the major hub with all rental car companies - Private: Mitchell, Chamberlain, or Sioux Falls all accommodate private aircraft
Weather in South Dakota during hunting season runs 30-40°F mornings, 50-70°F days, but prepare for extremes from 0-80°F. Layer up—morning cold gives way to warmth from field walking.
Essential gear: - 12-gauge shotgun (preferred) or 20-gauge - 2¾" shells with #5 shot standard; #4 and #6 acceptable - Modified choke most effective - Waterproof outer gear and boots - Hunter orange on shoulders (required) - Gloves suitable for safe shotgun handling - Protective eyewear
Hard-sided locked cases required for commercial airline transport. Cabelas in Mitchell (just off I-90) stocks hunting licenses and gear. Licenses also available online through South Dakota Game and Parks.
Bring your own hunting dog—Labs are preferred for retrieving in dense brush, tall grass, and grain fields. The operation provides inside/outside kennels for approximately 4 dogs. Dogs must stay close to hand; long-range pointers that flush birds prematurely make the hunt harder for everyone.
Casual, comfortable clothing for evenings. Bring your favorite beverages. The operation photographs hunts regularly—bring a USB drive if you want copies before departure.
Note: Dogs are not allowed inside the lodge or other facilities.
