Full description and what we offer
Pheasant Cove Outfitters started in 1994 when Marv and Carol began guiding hunts on their family farm near Mobridge. The operation has passed through the family—after Marv's passing in 2018, daughter Robin took over as head guide. In 2024, Robin purchased the outfitter and now runs it with her husband Teddy (a former Army sniper) and his wife Hayley.
The outfit offers both preserve and wild pheasant hunting with Ring Neck Pheasants as the primary target. You'll encounter grouse as well. The area holds enough birds that hunters regularly reach their four-bird limit. Guests consistently praise the abundance—one longtime hunter noted the only way to tell if a bird is wild or released is "when they are dead in your hand."

After the morning hunt, you'll return to the lodge (called "The Cove") with hot tub access, fully stocked bar, and home-cooked family-style meals. Hayley handles the cooking, and past guests rave about both the quality and quantity. The lodge provides a comfortable place to swap stories and decompress.
"I have returned to Pheasant Cove every year to hunt for almost three decades because they always have plenty of birds. The lodge is very comfortable. Perhaps the best part of the trip is the quality of the food!" - Larry T., 29-year repeat guest
Robin brings 30 years of family experience and deep knowledge of the land and bird behavior. Teddy, her son, completed US Army Sniper School and brings military-trained attention to detail. Both guides understand the terrain and adjust strategy based on conditions.
Mobridge Regional Airport (4,400 ft runway with instrument approach) is just 10 miles away—you can fly in Friday morning and hunt by noon.
Packages are available for single hunters and groups. The outfitter emphasizes hands-on service and personalization. Most guests book multiple years in advance.
