Full description and what we offer
Kincade's Guide Service operates out of Hornbeak, Tennessee, on Reelfoot Lake—a 15,000-acre body of water that sits 20 miles long and 7 miles wide in northwest Tennessee's Mississippi Flyway. Jon Kincade has been guiding professionally for over 15 years, hunting the south end of the lake where older generations of hunters passed down knowledge that produces results.
Reelfoot Lake hosts over 13 species of waterfowl during the winter migration, including mallards, pintails, teal, gadwall, and others. The lake was formed by earthquakes in 1811-1812 and is covered in 200+ year-old cypress trees—the exact habitat that draws ducks and geese down the Mississippi Flyway every fall and winter. It's different from most other duck hunting destinations because the shallow water (average 5 feet deep) and dense vegetation create ideal conditions for concentrated bird populations.
The lake also hosts over 100 nesting pairs of bald eagles—the largest wintering eagle population in the United States.
Hunters of all skill levels can book. First-timers get instruction and strategy. Experienced hunters benefit from Jon's knowledge of bird patterns, lake geography, and seasonal timing.
Jon is on the water almost every day, which means he knows where the fish are—even in bad conditions. He moves the boat to follow the bite instead of setting up in one spot. Crappie and largemouth bass are the lake's two gamefish species, but catfish and bluegill are also available.
See bald eagles and other migratory waterfowl without hunting. Jon pre-scouts the lake to find the best viewing areas.
Kincade's offers a newly built lodge at Reelfoot Lake that accommodates up to 12 guests. The setup works for hunters and fishermen with plenty of boat parking, plus family lake getaways. Games include poker, pool, darts, ring toss, and cornhole. Ice machine available to keep coolers cold.
Lodging packages can be combined with hunting and fishing services.
