Fowl Plains Outfitters runs hunts out of Abernathy, Texas (near Lubbock), specializing in waterfowl and upland bird hunting across West Texas waste grain fields and playa lakes. All hunts include lodging at their 6,400 sq ft lodge, gourmet meals from local producers, and professional guide service.

Waterfowl Hunts: - Goose hunts - $500/day. Large decoy spreads in dry waste grain fields. Aggressive calling, huge flocks, hard-charging pointer dogs. - Duck/Teal hunts - $500/day. Early-season teal on green playa lakes using Lucky Duck a-frame blinds. Fast-paced action. - Crane hunts - $500/day. Sandhill crane hunts in waste grain fields, Lucky Duck a-frame blinds. Up-close decoying on massive birds. - Dove hunts - $300/day. South of Lubbock in waste grain fields. Thousands of Mourning, White-wing, and Eurasian Collared-Dove. - Combo hunts - Add afternoon dove or pheasant to morning session for $300 extra.

Upland Hunts: - Pheasant hunts - Upland bird hunting over pointing dogs. Add to any morning hunt for $300.

Base rate: $450/day per person includes morning crane or goose hunt, lodging, and gourmet meals.

99% of Fowl Plains hunts are dry field hunts. They adjust setup based on conditions:

• •A-frame style blinds on stools (used for teal and crane hunts)
• •Layout blinds for flat terrain
• •Backboards and blankets for customized concealment

Hunters should expect aggressive calling, decoy spreads, and dog work from trained pointers.

Shotgun rentals available: - Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 semi-automatic shotgun - $50/day - Premium 3" steel shot ammunition - $25/box

Rentals save time if you're flying in without a shotgun.

Required: - Your own shotgun (or rent Benelli Super Black Eagle 3) - Ear and eye protection - Appropriate ammo: - Steel shot for waterfowl - Lead shot for dove - 3" shells recommended

Clothing (layer up): - Warm base layers (temperature fluctuates throughout the day) - Waterfowl waders for duck hunts only - Warm outerwear

Optional: - Special food or drinks for your stay - Cooler for harvested game transportation

Non-resident hunters need:
