These hunts operate on high-fence ranches in the Texas Hill Country—ranging 10 minutes to 1 hour from the main lodge. Terrain is rocky and hilly with cedar and cactus brush for cover. Ranch roads are off-road trails, so your guide uses a 4x4 vehicle for access.
Texas has no elk season restrictions, but September is the recommended hunting window.
The hunting lodge features 8 total bedrooms (one master en-suite, seven standard rooms sharing common bathroom facilities). Simple, clean, and comfortable—emphasis on rest and good Texas cuisine. The communal area includes a bar, pool table, sofa, and TV. Full cell phone and internet connectivity means you can stay in touch with work or family between hunting.
Rental cost: $150 plus ammunition.
.243 Winchester through .300 Winchester Magnum.
Elk are the second-largest land mammals in North America, weighing around 720 pounds on average. Bulls carry impressive antlers that grow nearly 1 inch per day (when in velvet), typically featuring six tines per side. Antler size correlates with testosterone levels, making late summer and early fall prime hunting seasons.
Fly into San Antonio International Airport. The outfitter provides round-trip road transportation from the airport to the lodge (2-hour drive). If driving yourself, head to Junction, Texas where you'll meet your guide at the lodge.
If you don't harvest your bull, return at $250/day until successful. This reflects the outfitter's confidence in his 100% success rate across all hunts.
After harvest: field dressing and trophy photos on the ranch, then transport to the main lodge. Your elk is skinned and tagged as yours. Cape and antlers either go to the outfitter's preferred taxidermist or are transferred to The Wildlife Gallery in Ingram for processing and shipment to your taxidermist.
This outfitter runs hunts for multiple species and locations—check availability and pricing for additional game on their hunt listings.
