Eddie Hicks founded Jordan Valley Retrievers after discovering his passion for Labrador training in 1989. What started with his first Lab, "Travis," grew into a 30-year career training over 900 hunting and field dogs. For the last 25 years, he's been the trainer behind Budweiser's prestigious hunting dog program.

Located at 4021 Jordan Valley Rd, Dallas, Texas (20 miles east of downtown, off Highway 175), the facility sits on over 50 acres of grounds and water with access to more than 2,000 private acres of prime hunting and training land. The boarding kennels occupy a 5,000 square foot climate-controlled building designed specifically for dog comfort.

They raise their own game birds on-site to ensure realistic training conditions across diverse land and water landscapes.

Jordan Valley offers three progressive hunting retriever programs plus all-breed obedience training:

Entry-level training where dogs learn foundational hunting skills. Minimum 60 days. $950/month.

Transitional program introducing advanced hunting concepts. Dogs progress only after mastering basic level skills. $950/month.

Intensive 4-month minimum program combining marking scenarios, precision blinds, handling drills, and challenging retrieves. Dogs completing this level typically qualify for Master Hunter (MH) and Hunting Retriever Champion (HRCH) competition. $950/month.

Basic obedience covering sit, here, and heel, plus electronic collar conditioning. Minimum 60 days. $950/month.

While known for retriever training, Jordan Valley boards all dog breeds in their spacious 5,000 sq ft facility just minutes from downtown Dallas.

Jordan Valley occasionally offers trained dogs and puppies for sale, including: - Golden Retriever puppies (pedigreed breeding lines) - English Cocker puppies

Dogs advance through levels based on mastery of foundational skills, not time. Each dog must demonstrate competency at their current level before progressing. Eddie tailors pace to individual dog development.
