Full description and what we offer
Lower Palisade Ranch sits on 700 acres of prime hunting land in Bexar and Medina counties, northwest of San Antonio near Helotes. The property has deep roots in Texas heritage—founded in 1833 by Irish immigrant Peter Gallagher as a military supply depot, it later became the oldest dude ranch in Texas during the 1920s. Today, under the stewardship of fifth-generation Texan Jesse R. Adams, the ranch combines that legacy with serious whitetail genetics and hunting.
The ranch operates as a Licensed Scientific Breeder since 2001, specializing exclusively in 100% Texas genetics. Over 15 years of selective breeding has produced some notable bucks:
All breeding bucks carry drop-tine genetics and are known for wide, long-tined racks. The ranch works with Wildlife Biologist Chris Logan (Texas A&M-Kingsville graduate) who brings expertise in deer capture, tagging, and population management.
The ranch uses naturally raised, hardy Texas whitetail genetics specifically suited for building your own breeding operation or stocking your ranch.
Lower Palisade specializes in one-on-one guided hunts accommodating all experience levels:

Beyond whitetail, the ranch maintains a full equine facility with American Paint and Quarter Horse breeding programs. They board horses and offer riding facilities, rounding out the full-service ranch experience.
The ranch has hosted film productions including "All the Pretty Horses" (Matt Damon, Penelope Cruz), plus segments of "Selena" and "Days of our Lives."
