Full description and what we offer
Ojo Caliente Outfitters operates on private ranches they own outright in the eastern Sierra Madres of northwestern Chihuahua—about 250 miles southwest of El Paso. They don't lease hunting rights to anyone else, which means you won't cross paths with other hunters during your hunt.
The coues deer rut peaks during January, when bucks are most active. Hunts use a 1x1 guide-to-hunter ratio. You'll access areas by 4x4 vehicle (2 hunters per vehicle) or horses, then hunt the mountains and canyons on foot.
Goulds turkey mating season peaks around April 30th. Like the deer hunts, you get a dedicated 1x1 guide and fair chase hunting on arroyos and hillsides on foot.
If bringing your own firearms, you'll need a Mexican gun permit ($500). Ojo Caliente handles the process, but documents must arrive by October 30 (coues) or February 1 (turkey).
All hunters fly or drive into El Paso, Texas (served by American Airlines and major carriers). Ojo Caliente provides ground transportation from the airport hotel to the ranches. The drive takes most of a day on two-lane roads.
