Larry and Nancy Henard started Salt Fork Hunts in November 1999 on the family-owned Henard Ranch near Wellington, Texas, eight miles north of town in Collingsworth County. The operation sits on land that Larry's pioneering family settled in the late 1800s—Nancy's ancestors homesteaded in nearby Oklahoma when it was still Indian Territory in 1901. What started as a way to manage the growing wildlife population has become a serious hunting destination.
The ranch spans across Collingsworth County with primary hunting areas along the Salt Fork River. That includes:
Hunters work from enclosed stands, tripods, ground blinds, and pop-ups—your guides position you for the best shot opportunities without spot-and-stalk hunts that would pressure the property.
Hunt Details - One buck (minimum 8 points, mature 3-year-old or better) and one doe per hunt - Shots typically 50-300 yards (average 200 yards) - Guides locate stands and orient you to terrain on arrival day (11am) - You hunt the following five mornings and evenings - All deer retrieved and field dressed same day by guides
