Bracken Rifle and Pistol Range

Bracken Rifle and Pistol is a family-owned, family-operated public shooting range located 2 miles north of Rolling Oaks Mall off Nacogdoches Road in Northeast San Antonio. Since opening, they've built a reputation as a no-nonsense facility where safety is enforced, not suggested.

Rifle Range — 50 and 100 yard covered stations - Individual shooting tables, gun rests, sandbags, spotting scope - Hunting rifles, semi-auto, plinkers, black powder welcome - Bore sighting available ($20)

Covered Pistol Range — 7 and 15 yard covered stations - Individual tables, gun rests, binoculars, eye/ear protection - Standard handguns only (big bore hunting pistols use rifle range)

Shotgun Range — Two dedicated areas - Bullseye targets for testing/patterning - Hand throwers available for bird hunters - Clay loads #7, 7½, or 8 shot only (bring your own clays)

CHL Practice Range — First-come/first-serve (3.5, 7, 15 yd marked) - Public pistol-only range when not in use by instructors

Instructor/Law Enforcement Ranges — Appointment only - Certification range available for CHL, instructor, law enforcement, security guard training

• •Banned ammunition: Tracer, armor-piercing, steel core (Brown Bear, Silver Bear, Wolf, Tula, etc.), or high explosive rounds
• •No 50 BMG rifles
• •AR-15 pistols allowed on 25/50 yard rifle range only with wrist brace, body harness, or supported position
• •No tactical-style shooting facilities available
• •Range Safety Officers on site

Minimum age: 18 for long guns without parent supervision, 21 for handguns

Fully handicapped accessible. Closed Wednesdays and major holidays. Open Monday/Saturday/Sunday 9am-5pm, Thursday-Friday 12pm-5pm (seasonal variations apply). Fall deer season (Oct 20-31) includes night rifle sighting-in until dark.
