Founded in 1968, Cherokee Gun Club is a private facility located on 130 scenic acres near Gainesville, Georgia. The club hosts multiple disciplines including .22 Steel Challenge, Extreme Rimfire Silhouette, Handgun Bullseye, Handgun Silhouette, IDPA, SCSA Steel Challenge, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Tactical Rifle, Trap, and USPSA competition matches. The club operates as a cold range and welcomes visitors to open events and competitions. Non-members may participate in all open matches.
Starting with just 21 acres of leased property in 1969, the club expanded through fundraising via semiannual gun shows. Facilities were upgraded with skeet and trap machines, and a clubhouse was constructed in 1983. The club was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1974.
Restrictions
- •Cold range - all firearms unloaded and holstered until instructed
- •Eye and ear protection required
- •Cash payment only for match fees (no credit/debit cards)
- •Non-members permitted for first 3 IDPA matches only; IDPA membership required thereafter
- •10 MPH speed limit on facility grounds
- •Children under 8 not permitted on ranges
- •No shooting before matches begin
- •Observers must complete club waiver and have eye/ear protection
