Texas Defensive Shooting Academy is far more than a typical gun range. Founded by Len Baxley, an instructor with decades of competitive shooting and law enforcement experience, TDSA operates as a complete training ecosystem—you can walk in as a beginner and leave as a competitor.
TDSA's facilities include:
Rapid fire, draws from holster, transitions, and movement are all allowed in tactical bays. Steel must be shot with pistol-caliber .45 ACP or smaller with pistols; shotgun birdshot or target loads work on falling steel.
Pistol Courses progress from fundamentals to competition and tactical applications: - Intro Pistol: 3 hours, $150 - Advanced Pistol 1-4: $300 (1-day) or $550 (2-day) - Ladies Pistol: Same curriculum as AP1 in a less stressful environment
Rifle Courses cover tactical carbine (Levels I & II) and long-range rifle ($300 per day). The Long Gun Combo bundles multiple disciplines.
Private Sessions available for one-on-one instruction.
LTC/CHL Certification courses get you licensed to carry in Texas.
Len's students include US Army Special Forces (3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 19th, 20th Groups), 75th Ranger Regiment, MARSOC, British SBS, Canadian JTF 2, and numerous USPSA and IDPA competitors.
