He's a high-level 3-gun competitor with multiple major match wins—including the 2025 Vortex Shootout victory and consistent top placements at national competitions like USPSA Multigun Nationals and Memorial 3-Gun.
Since 2016, Riser has taught multigun and pistol classes. These days he focuses on private instruction, allowing students to zero in on specific skills and accelerate their progression. His background spans competitive shooting, professional photography and writing for the outdoor industry, and extensive expeditions across North America—which translates to real-world problem-solving in training.
