Central Virginia Sporting Clays

Central Virginia Sporting Clays is a public shotgun-only shooting range located in Palmyra, Virginia, offering premier clay target shooting experiences for shooters of all skill levels. Situated on naturally rolling terrain under a mature tree canopy, this facility provides a challenging and enjoyable environment for competitive and recreational shooters alike.

The range features three distinct shooting disciplines:

• •Sporting Clays - Often called "golf with a shotgun," this sport presents targets at various angles and distances designed to mimic upland game birds and rabbits. The 14-station course features four traps per station and 100 targets laid out across the scenic grounds.
• •Five Stand - Shooters rotate through five adjacent stands, taking five shots at each position for 25 total targets per round. Targets are thrown as singles, report pairs, and true pairs from multiple trap positions.
• •Wobble Trap - A unique game featuring five shooting stations at different elevations, with the trap oscillating on horizontal and vertical axes to create varied target presentations.

Central Virginia Sporting Clays provides comprehensive amenities including shotgun rentals (12 and 20 gauge), golf cart rentals for navigating the course, and ammunition sales. The range offers professional instruction for beginners, with introductory lessons that include gun rental, ammunition, and targets. The facility also accommodates group events, corporate outings, fundraisers, and fun shoots, with catering available for groups of 12 or larger.
