Full description and what we offer
Eastern Washington Guides operates fully guided hunting and fishing trips across Eastern Washington's pristine Columbia Basin habitat. Based near Moses Lake, they give hunters and anglers access to over 200,000 birds annually across 20,000+ acres of privately leased farms, plus public land hunting throughout the region.
Their waterfowl program is built on one core philosophy: get birds close on final approach. They call it the "No Sky Busting Zone." Your expected shot distances range 25-40 yards—sometimes closer. It's more ethical, more fun, and honestly more likely to result in a limit.
Waterfowl Trips: - Dove hunting (high-volume wingshooting warm-ups or standalone hunts) - Snow goose hunts (they regularly get clients "snowed in" with tens of thousands overhead) - Canada goose hunts from private pit blinds and layout blinds on leased properties - Duck hunts (greenheads, green-winged teals, wood ducks, pintails depending on season) - Waterfowl combo hunts (morning ducks, afternoon geese—full day of shooting) - Spring goose hunts (February through April, pit blinds and layouts)
Fishing Trips: - Largemouth bass (3-5+ lb fish common in spring and mid-summer) - Smallmouth bass (larger and more aggressive than west-side fish) - Walleye (fishable year-round) - Sockeye salmon on the Columbia River (half-day trips on a 23' Super Vee) - Sturgeon and steelhead - Bowfishing for carp (year-round from Potholes)
The team includes: - Aaron Echternkamp (Owner, waterfowl, fishing, and adventure guide) - Mike Abrams (Waterfowl & fishing guide) - Jessie Hurley (Canada and snow goose and duck guide) - Brandon Miers (Canada and snow goose, duck, and fishing guide)
"Aaron's calling is top-notch and the shooting is close. I can't wait to hunt with him again this year." — Bob Sowers, Olympia WA
Two guides placed in the top 5 of the 2021 World Goose Calling Championship. Expect to learn calling sequences, decoy spreads, and tactics from hunters who've competed at the highest level. Guides constantly scout before trips, adjusting location and strategy based on bird movement and weather.
Meet at Half Sun gas station around 5:30 AM (time adjusted by guide based on conditions). Drive to leased property, set up decoys (typically Dave Smith fully-flocked spreads), finish grassing blinds if needed, wait for legal shooting time. Many trips have birds in the decoys immediately.
Hunt until you limit or early afternoon (typically 6-8 hour days, sometimes faster if limits are reached). Fishing trips follow similar structure—morning meetup, on the water around sunrise, full day customized to the kind of experience you want.
Trip prices do NOT include: - Hunting or fishing licenses (buy online through Washington State DFW or in person around Moses Lake) - Travel, hotels, or meals - Tags or permits
Eastern Washington Guides handles VIP and custom trips—multiple days, combo hunts, catered shore meals. Contact Aaron directly for custom packages.

Yes. Washington State DFW requires hunters born after January 1, 1972 to complete hunter education before purchasing their first license. Once complete, indicate your new hunter status in booking notes and let your guide know. Guides actively teach tactics and technique to newer hunters.
Eastern Washington is a major Pacific Flyway wintering area. The greater Columbia Basin sees consistent bird activity all season. Spring goose hunts get $50 off per gun with code SPRING if booked before February 1st.
